Abstract:
SWOT was launched on December 16, 2022. The fast-repeat calibration and validation phase was conducted between March and July 2023. During this phase, we conducted in-situ field campaigns to collect ocean interior temperature, salinity and velocity, which were compared with twice-a-day SWOT KaRIn SSH sampling. Preliminary analyses on SWOT KaRIn, in-situ CTD data and high-resolution SST images show evidence that SWOT KaRIn can observe wavelengths below 10km, far exceeding the mission requirement. This talk includes a collection of early analyses, resulting from a large campaign group, on the evaluation of SWOT's capability of observing SSH below 100km spatial scales.
