Abstract:

The "Observatoire des Sciences de l'Univers de Grenoble" (OSUG) will open its Science Museum on the Grenoble campus in spring 2015. Research and observational issues concerning many topics (Earth, Universe and Environmental sciences) will be permanently displayed in a 300 m2 room open to the general public, students and academic visitors*. In collaboration with Mercator-Ocean, the LGGE numerical oceanography team (MEOM) is designing a 3-device multimedia installation for this museum, comprising two interactive screens and one interactive sphere over which global animations will be projected. This exhibition will illustrate various features of the ocean physics and biogeochemistry, introduce our research activities, highlightig the strong complementarities between satellite/in-situ observations, theoretical, numerical, and operational oceanography.
