The Sea State Bias (SSB) correction to sea surface height measurement is an empirical correction that is computed specifically for each altimeter. With the successful launch of the Jason-3 mission on January 2016, preliminary (2D and 3D) solutions based on few cycles of IGDR products have been computed. These solutions will be compared to different Jason-2 SSB versions: operational and alternate ones from CLS or UNH. This presentation will allow us also to discuss recent progress in developing SSB models such as new alternate 3D solutions derived from collinear data. As a reminder, so far reported 3D solutions are developed with the direct approach based on sea level anomalies while operational 2D solutions are mainly derived from collinear/crossover datasets.
