The SSALTO/Duacs products have been distributed by Aviso+ (initially Aviso) since 2003. Many users are now registered and use those products for varied applications in oceanography, biology, climatology, data assimilation into models… . The European Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS, previously known as MyOcean during its demonstration phase) is now working on an operational mode and provides regular and systematic core reference information on the state of the physical oceans and regional seas. CMEMS is now responsible for the processing and dissemination of the SSALTO/Duacs altimetry products. Indeed, Aviso+ will now focus on the distribution of innovative products. The SSALTO/Duacs (M)SLA Heights data (except the Mozambique area and climatologies) are already distributed from the CMEMS catalogue. The scientific content has not changed.
The other SSALTO/Duacs products such as the (M)ADT Heights products and geostrophic currents will be concerned by the transition on April 2017. For the time being they will continue to be distributed by Aviso+. The two service desks will work together to facilitate the transition for the users.
