Launched on 17/11/2025, Sentinel-6B (S6B) is set to become the new reference mission in the Jason series upon the completion of its commissioning phase. During this phase, S6B is being validated in tandem with Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich (S6MF), with a time delay of approximately 30 seconds between the two satellites. This tandem configuration provides a unique opportunity to evaluate and compare the operational products from both satellites, ensuring the consistency and scientific quality of the measurements.

As part of the Cal/Val activities, EUMETSAT monitors both S6MF and S6B Near-Real-Time (NRT) products using a suite of internal tools. These tools enable the monitoring of Auxiliary Data Files (ADFs), data coverage, and the percentage of edited data, along with the comparison of Level-2 altimetry and radiometry geophysical retrievals to identify potential anomalies and ensure data integrity.

This poster will outline the key events and anomalies encountered during the commissioning phase and the solutions implemented to maintain the quality of the operational products.

These efforts are crucial for ensuring a smooth transition to S6B as the new reference mission, maintaining high-quality data delivery and scientific integrity throughout the process, and supporting the seamless continuation of the Jason series.
